If you are a mom wondering
what life will be like after going back to work – or perhaps wrestling with the
question of whether to take the step at all – you are facing one of the most
complex and important issues of our time.
Dr. Laurel
Schwartz is a
clinical psychologist who is familiar with all the questions and insecurities
that this topic brings up. She has helped many women experience a smooth
transition as they reenter the workforce, while helping others realize they were
better served by remaining stay-at-home moms.
Dr. Schwartz will be
holding the workshop, “What if I Go Back to work?
What if I Don’t Go Back to Work? Answers for Today’s Moms”, May 7th
from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Topics to be covered include:
|
- Will the rewards justify the burdens?
- How will working affect my children? The family dynamic?
- Will there be enough time to get everything done?
- If I go back to work, what will people think?
What will they think if I don’t? - What new challenges will I face in my job search?
|
Several stay-at-home mothers who returned to work will speak about what
they’ve gone through – the difficulties and the rewards.
You spend most of your waking hours tending to the needs of others. With such
weighty issues on your mind, isn’t this a time when you should consider spending
2 hours taking care of yourself?
Dr. Schwartz has been a featured speaker on helping mothers return to the workplace, and has published articles on mothers transitioning into new roles. She has served on the Health Advisory Board of
Big Apple Parent Magazine, and as a member and frequent speaker at the 92nd Street Y Parenting Center in New York. A working mom, Dr. Schwartz is in private practice in Stamford and Manhattan where she specializes in life transitions such as marriage, parenthood, divorce, returning to the workplace and aging. |
